7:00 pm - Misconceptions about Smart Contracts

Hello Blockchain Ladies!

We are excited to announce our inaugural meetup in November. There will be 2 events on 16 Nov, Wed, and 24 Nov, Fri, exploring 2 different topics in Blockchain. Each session will start with a presentation about the topic, followed by a roundtable discussion & networking.

“Smart Contracts” were first proposed by cryptographer Nick Szabo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Szabo) in 1996. It’s “a computer protocol intended to facilitate, verify,or enforce the negotiation or performance of a contract” according to Wikipedia, which has been closely associated with cryptocurrencies.

Today, the ethereum blockchain’s popularity enabled the concept to be utilized in a public environment.
Yet, there is a cloud of confusion around Smart Contracts.

In this session, we will discuss the misconceptions of Smart Contracts, and provide examples to facilitate easy understanding for our audience.
